DCSF

AN INTERNAL COMMISSIONING BRAND FOR A NEW WAY OF WORKING.

Time spent in local authorities generated significant good will and shaped the Commissioning Support program strategy.

DCSF – The Department for Children Schools and Families – is creating a three year support programme to help local children’s commissioners. They asked Dave to investigate this complex cultural environment and to make communications recommendations to make the programme a success.

We conducted face to face interviews in local authorities and primary care trusts across the country.  The message coming back to central government was simple: the real expertise was already on the ground, where it should be, and that the DCSF’s role was to consolidate and support this.

We then created a brand platform that emphasised local skills, reinforced by a communications strategy which emphasised one to one communications between local experts and practitioners.

The consultation exercise was very well received by local commissioners creating the best possible platform for the support programme’s success. As a bonus the brand identity was liked so much that the Minister, Ed Balls, adopted it as the Department’s logo!
